William S. Back, 81, died at 2:47 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010 in Millers Merry Manor, Marion, IN.
He was born in Hazard, Kentucky to the late James and Mary (Pratt) Back. He had been a resident of Marion for 50 years and spent 18 winters in St. Cloud, Florida.
He married Iona Cook May 12, 1950. She survives.
William retired from General Motors in 1987 after 30 years and formerly worked in the coal mines of Kentucky. He was a Kentucky Wildcat fan and enjoyed bluegrass music and fishing. William was very dedicated to his family.
Survivors include his wife, Iona Back, Marion; daughter, Deborah (Robert) Manns, Marion; son, Michael (Lorrie) Back, Kingman, Ariz.; brother, Ollie (Gaynell) Back, Ky.; special son, John Lawson, Marion; grandchildren, Mary (John) Nall, Marion, Kimberly Back, South Bend, Lance Corporal, Andrew Back, San Diego, Calif., Marion; great grandchildren, Monica Nall, Maddie Nall, Mazie Nall, Hannah Back, Alexa Back.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dewayne Back; and brother, Wayne Back.
Funeral Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN, with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial is in Grant Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in the funeral home.
