Finis Clifton Anderson, the son of Robert E. "Dick" and Jesstina Wickless Anderson, was born near Livonia on August 29, 1899.

Mr. Anderson, 88, of Queen City, died Thursday evening, September 10, 1987 in Kirksville Manor Care Center where he had been a resident since September 2.

On April 16, 1922 at Livonia, he married Chloe Mathes who survives. Also surviving are seven children, John Robert Anderson of Dayton, Ohio, Howard Eldon Anderson and James Leonard "Chuck" Anderson, both of Lancaster, Reva M. Anderson of Dallas City, Ill., Paul Dean Anderson of Queen City, Larry Joe Anderson of Kirksville and Joyce Bernice Casady of Unionville; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. "Shorty" Anderson and one great-grandson, Brian Scott Holman.

Mr. Anderson was reared in the Livonia community and attended the Snowball Rural School and Livonia High School. He was engaged in farming and was employed with Keokuk Canning Company in Livonia during his earlier years. In 1940 he moved to a farm east of Queen City and continued to farm until his retirement in 1972. He had been a resident of Queen City since 1954.

Mr. Anderson played on several baseball teams in Putnam and Schuyler Counties until the middle 1940's.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 1987 in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City. The Rev. Tim VanBebber, pastor of the Queen City Baptist Church, conducted the services. Music was provided by Pauline Whitlow, singing, "God Will Take Care of You." She was accompanied by Julia Mollick, organist. Burial was in the St. Johns Cemetery at Livonia.

Bearers were: Jeff Anderson, David Anderson, Roger Anderson, Danny Anderson, Hollie Anderson and John Anderson, Jr.

Honorary bearers were: Robert Anderson, Cole Anderson, Larry Dale Anderson, Richard Anderson, Brian Anderson, Wendell David Anderson and Gary Anderson.
