Mr. Emmett Bobby Joe Hicks 'jickey" was born on
December 28, 1938 to William and Mable Hicks.
He graduated from A. J. Moore High School.
He retired from the U. S. Army after 22 years of
service. He worked for the Gatesville Prison System
and also for the Veterans Administration Hospital in
Waco until his health started to fail.
He departed this life on November 7, 2001, in the
comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Betty
Hicks; four sons, Emmett Hicks Jr. and Jonathan
Hicks, both of Waco, Texas, Reginald Vaughn Hicks
of Marlin, Texas, and Billy Bryant of Dallas, Texas;
four step-children.Tames (Nadine) Day ofFt. Worth,
Texas, Tammy Harrison and Robert Day, both of
Carrollton, Texas, and Patricia (Stegg) Hooks of
Houston, Texas; one sister, Clara (Harold) Espy of
California; two brothers, Ivran Hicks of Albuquerque,
New Mexico, andJohnny Hamilton of Port Arthur,
Texas; one sister-in-law, Billie Hamilton ofFt. Worth,
Texas, one sister-in-law of Houston, Texas, and three
sisters-in-law of Waco, Texas; one brother-in-law of
Houston, Texas, and four brothers-in-law of Waco,
Texas; fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild,
six uncles, six aunts, four nephews, three nieces, two
devoted aunts, Catherine Ellis and Charles McDowell;
five devoted uncles, Garlin, R. L., Carl, Ray and
Willie Long; mother-in-law, Erma Watkins; and
numerous relatives and friends.
