Isaac married Rachel Billson before 1853 on the third of April (year unknown). They had several children together.

Isaac enlisted as a Private into the Union Army on 8 September 1861 at Avoca, Steuben County, NY. On 13 Sep 1861 he was assigned to Battery E, First Artillery of New York to serve thre years. On 5 Aug 1862 he was transferred to the First Independent Battery.
He was discharged as disabled on 9 Dec 1862 but died circa 13 February 1863 before making it back to his family. Isaac's death is recorded in his military record as "DIS- on way home of disease."
