First Lieutenant Guthrie was the pilot of
U.S. Army Air Corps B-24J Liberator #42-51482.

While on a training flight out of the
Mountain Home Army Airfield, his bomber had
a mid-air collision with AT-23A #42-43356
and crashed, ten miles southeast of the base.

The crew that perished were:

2 Lt. Dorise C Nickell
Cpl. Eugene F Bingham
Cpl. Howard F Gallagher
Cpl. Harold T Skottestad
PFC Milton G Dilling
PFC Fay R Windle
