Birth: Dec. 10, 1922
Death: Apr. 27, 1943

Flight Officer Carpenter was the pilot of U.S. Army Air Corps
B-17F Flying Fortress #42-5287, serving with the 29th Bomb Group, 52nd
Bomb Squadron. He died from injuries sustained when the bomber struck a mountainside, April 25, 1943, during a nighttime training flight, seven miles northeast of Gowen Field, Boise Idaho.

Three other Army fliers also perished:

S/Sgt. Robert H. Kingsbury
S/Sgt. Walter F. Stocklas
Sgt. Allen B. Vincent
