DEACON JAMES ALBERT DINGLE, the beloved son of the late Reverend Irving Dingle and Theola Riley Dingle, was born in Manning, South Carolina on August 17,1917. Deacon Dingle was the eldest of eight children. Deacon Dingle was relocated to North Carolina with his family at an early age.
On May 15,1940, Deacon James married Ruby Howard and their union was blessed with twelve children. Together they reared their children and worked as Farmers in Nash and Wilson Counties. They later decided to build their home in Wilson, North Carolina and Deacon Dingle worked at the Sampson Manufacturing Company until his retirement. Deacon Dingle was a dedicated, hardworking and industrious employee. A few years after his retirement, Deacon Dingle decided to make his home in Durham where he lived until God called Deacon Dingle into His Heavenly Home.
Deacon Dingle was a committed Christian who was confident of his Salvation. Deacon Dingle raised his children in the Church and always encouraged them in the Lord Jesus Christ. Deacon Dingle heart's desire was that all of his children and family members be Saved (Acts 16:31). Deacon Dingle life style was a witness to many other people as well. His favorite song was "I Will Trust In The Lord" and he usually included The Lord's Prayer in his prayers. Deacon Dingle was a Christian man who exhibited a loving, gentle spirit and yet he was a strong person who used godly wisdom in making decisions. Deacon James Dingle children will remember him as a very wise man.
Deacon Dingle was a loyal husband, a caring father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Deacon Dingle was a kind and loving person and always willing to help other people. He was quick to think the best everyone and always looked for the good in people. When you needed a friend, you could always count on him to go the extra mile. Deacon Dingle enjoyed watching things grow as evidenced by his hobby of growing vegetable gardens. Deacon Dingle shared his harvest with others and this gave him great pleasure.
Among Deacon Dingle's accolades are several plagues for his outstanding dedication and faithful Leadership Service at the St. Mary Church of Christ. Deacon Dingle served his community as a Volunteer Fireman for many of years.
On Thursday, March 9, 2009 God quietly called Deacon James into His Heavenly Home. Two children preceded him in death: James Earl Dingle and Ruby Diane Dingle Vick.
Left to carry on Deacon Dingle legacy: a devoted wife~ Mrs. Ruby Dingle; ten children~ Dr. Quentine Finch(Willie, Mrs. Christine Woods(David) Mrs. Bessie Dingle-Midgette, Mr. Dennis Dingle(Vonoka) and Mrs. Clara Vann(Marvin) all of Durham; Mrs. Barbara Lowery(Calvin) of Winston-Salem; Mrs. Janice Hunter(Alvin) of Raleigh; Mrs. Denice Wiley(Sidney) of Black Creek; Mr. Willie Dingle and Mr. Romas Dingle (Linda); one sister~ Mary Elizabeth Dingle of Wilson; two brothers~ Mr. Irving Dingle(Arlene) of Miami, Florida and Mr. Charles Dingle(Pamela) of Windsor Mills, Maryland; forty-eight grandchildren, one hundred&four great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
