Obituary in "Johnson City Press Chronicle," Johnson City, Tennessee, December 4, 1994:

Ocala, Fla. - Samuel "Sam" Henley, 51, Kingsport, TN, died here Friday, Dec. 2, 1994, as a result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Henley was a Washington County, TN, native and had lived in Kingsport most of his life. He was a son of Ronald and Pauline Elliott Henley, Erwin, TN.
Mr. Henley was the Florida district manager for Shamrock Scale Company. He had worked for 24 years for the Tennessee Eastman Co., Scale Group, Kingsport.
Mr. Henley was a Vietnam War Navy veteran, having served for eight years.
He was a member of First Church of God, Kingsport.
Mr. Henley was past distinguished president of the Kingsport Optimist Club and lieutenant governor of Zone 12 for 1989-90. He was Tennessee District Optimist of the Year in 1989-90. Mr. Henley was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 253 and Order of the Arrow Lodge No. 184.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Mrs. Joyce Erwin Henley, Kingsport; one son, Samuel Glenn Henley, Kingsport; one daughter, Mrs. Cindy Ann Stump, Kingsport; three nieces; and three nephews.

Sam Henley
Funeral services for Sam Henley, 51, 423 Forest Hills Drive, Kingsport, will be conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 1994, at Embreeville United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Gragg officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery, Chuckey, TN. Pallbearers will be Doug Bailey, Jason Reed, Eddie Ferguson, Wayne Lingerfelt, Larry Parkey, Mark Rodifer, Kenneth Robinette, Jr., David Keplinger and honorary pallbearers will be Tennessee District Optimist. The family will receive friends at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home from 6:30 - 9 P.M. Monday, Dec. 5, 1994. Kingsport VFW Post 4933 will conduct military honors at the committal service.
