JAKE HENLY DIES AT 86
J. H. "Jake" Henley, 86, of East Walden Street in LaFollette, died at LaFollette Community Hospital after an extended illness. He was the last surviving member of 13 children.
Mr. Henley, a native of Washington County, came to LaFollette in 1909 to work for the Southern Railroad. He retired from coal mining in 1950 at the age of 67, after 35 years of mining.
Survivors are wife, Ella, of the home; sons, Warren and Lin of Baltimore, Md., Bill of LaFollette; daughters, Mrs. Florence Gunderson of St. Albans, N.Y., Mrs. Grace Semone of the home, Mrs. Pauline Gunderson of Metarie, La., Mrs. Mildred Enas of Baltimore, Mrs. Peggy Brassard of Labador, Newfoundland, Mrs. Dean Chapman of Chatham, Va.; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at Martin Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul D. Quirk officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Conley Bowman, Marion Shelby, Shug Higdon, LeJune Farmer, George Wilson and Gene Mattie. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 - 9 p.m.
