Roy Donald Burbrink, 64, of Plymouth, Indiana, died at 2:26 a.m. on August 13, 2013, at Florida Memorial Hospital in Daytona, Florida.
Roy was born on October 16, 1948, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Donald C. and Ora Krumme Burbrink. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1961 and his father in 2010.
Surviving Roy are his son, Joseph Roy Burbrink, and his former wife, Lynda Buffington Burbrink, both of Flagler Beach, Florida; two sisters and a brother, Ruth Ann (Tom) Gallant and Mark Burbrink, both of Columbus, and Carol Beth (Ned) Jerabek of Santa Fe, New Mexico; stepmother, Ruth Fiesbeck Burbrink of Columbus; stepsister, Julie Malson, and stepbrother, Tom (Lisa) Burns, both of Columbus. Roy cherished his nine nieces and nephews and his five great-nieces and nephews.
Roy attended and graduated from St. Peter's Lutheran Grade School, Columbus High School, Indiana University and the University of Michigan Law School.
He attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Indiana. Through the years, he served as elder, Sunday school teacher, Bethel Series leader and Lifelight leader. When called upon, he even delivered a sermon or two. He also served as a reconciler for the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.
Roy had practiced law in Plymouth since 1976. As the years went by, his focus increased toward trusts and probate. His Christian faith and beliefs were at the core of his legal activity. On many occasions, he helped individuals and families dealing with hardship and/or grief. Upon his death, he was practicing in his law firm of Burbrink and Clemons P.C.
Roy had many interests. He enjoyed reading, cooking, camping, traveling, attending concerts and sporting events, especially Cubs and University of Michigan games. In recent years, spending quality family time in Florida with Joe and Lynda was his greatest joy.
A memorial service officiated by Pastor Edgar Keinath will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jonesville. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Lutheran Worship for Shut-Ins, Crosslife Ministries or the American Cancer Society.
