Harry Bolton was the son of Arthur and Sarah Rasmussen Bolton. Harry had four siblings; Elmer, Dorothy, Ethel, and Floyd.
According to records, Lt Bolton enlisted in the Air Corps in Feb of 1943. He served in the China-Burma-India Theater with the 10th Air Force 7th Bomb Group 436th Bomb Squadron (The Outlaws) during WWII.
According to the Bolton-Hitchings engagement announcement in the Los Angeles Times, both Lt. Bolton's and his wife's families were from Santa Monica, CA. He was stationed at Big Springs TX.
Lt Bolton married Ruth Eman Hitchings 21 Nov 1945.
He was serving as a bombardier on a B-29 out of Travis AFB in CA in March of 1951 when the plane's engine caught fire and fell off the aircraft wing. Because of the damage to the plane, the crew was forced to bail out. According to a newspaper article in Solano Coutny's Times Herald of Mar 9 1951, Lt Bolton was the third man to exit the plane by the nosewheel hatch. Lt Bolton did not survive the bail out. The Times Herald incorrectly reported his name as Henry D Bolton.
