Hadwin C. "Jiggs" Alsever, Sr., 82 of Pennellville, NY, died Friday. Born in the town of Hastings, graduated from Parish High School, was a Toll Collector for NYS Thruway Authority for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He was an Army Air Corps veteran serving 1942 to 1946. Hadwin was a member of the Phoenix United Methodist Church, serving as a trustee and active in the Men's Club; V.F.W. Post #5540 Phoe- CLOBFLAGnix, Commissioner BSA Hiawatha Council, Phoenix Senior Citizens and Larkins Breakfast Club. He was predeceased by a son, Captain Michael H. Alsever in 1970; granddaughter, Valerie D. Alsever in 1990 and his wife, Alice J. DelBuono Alsever in 2003. Surviving are three sons, David (Bonnie) Alsever of Phoenix; Roger (Karen) Alsever of Liverpool; Hadwin Alsever, II of S. Dakota; three daughters, Colleen (Karl) Starkweather of Liverpool; Marie (Doug) Brushell of Clay; Grethen (Tim) Neupert of Fulton; a sister, Hilda Foster of W. Monroe; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2007, Phoenix United Methodist Church, corner of Lock and Jefferson Sts., Phoenix. Burial: Phoenix Rural Cemetery. Calling Hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Rt. 57, Phoenix. Memorials may be made to the general fund, Phoenix United Methodist Church, 49 Jefferson St., Phoenix, NY 13135.
