STATESBORO, Ga. — Mrs. Evelyn Johnson Bell passed away peacefully at Ogeechee Area Hospice after an extended illness. She was a native of Screven County who spent most of her adult life in New York and moved to Statesboro to be near family several years ago. She was a dedicated member of Elm Street Church of God and a retired housekeeper.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Ann) Johnson, Pembroke, and Chauncey (Rachel) Bell, Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Caleb Johnson; and one sister, Pearl Johnson, both of Statesboro; two aunts, Mary Swain and Rosa Wilcox, both of Hazelhurst, Ga.; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bell will be held on Saturday, May 26th, at 11 a.m. at Brannen Chapel United Methodist Church with Elder Alexander Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery. James R. Barnes Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
