Pigress Friend To Ma
Birth: unknown
Death: unknown

Piggy was such a cute little kitten. She was blue/gray in color. Tiny. My aunt ask if I would take her in, as the mother had a big litter and two of them were so tiny, they needed someone to care for them.

We brought her home and it only took a few hours to see she was a PIGGY. She would eat anything and everything.
She followed me everywhere, and when she grew up and had her own babies, she would bring them to our bed and plop them on my chest...she was NOT going to sleep in a box.
Her and her babies would sit out by the range, and meow until I would make a batch of BUTTER popcorn....then they would help me eat the bowl. When I gave the babies away, I would tell the people, you have to make them popcorn every lady called me back after a few days and said..."you were NOT kidding...Black Beauty wants popcorn with butter EVERY night!!!". Hmmm I had warned her!

When my son was in the war in Iraq, she would sit on my lap and never leave my side, I couldn't even go shower without her being right there waiting for me. If I was sewing, she was in the way...if I was cleaning, she was in the way, if I was on the phone, she was trying to get between me and the phone....see wanted to do whatever I was doing.

We had her for 18 years and had to make a decision on letting her be in pain or put her to sleep. It was one of the hardest things to ever do....but it was harder to see her limping and crying out when she would jump off the bed, or try to go down the stairs.
The vet said it was very quick and painless, so after much talking and tears, my husband and I took her to the vet. We kissed her goodbye and they put the needle in her leg...but nothing happened. The vet said...he must have missed her vein. He went to get another....put it in her other leg, and nothing happened. By this time my husband is crying so hard I think he is going to have to leave the room. The vet went and got the third shot and said he had to finish it, as she would be so sick...and he put the needle in her chest, she closed her eyes and left us. The vet said in all his years he had never had to do that more than twice. She didn't want to leave me.

She was my friend. She brought us such happy times, and I can't tell you how hurt I am that I sent her out is such a terrible way. I hope she forgives me. I wanted her out of pain....she is now.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
