Harley G Hassell died June 4 at his Sebring, Florida home.

Born August 24, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John and Mildred Hassell.

When he was four his family moved to Clermont, Marion Co, Indiana.

Harley graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana. In high school he participated in Bowling, Booster Club and Hi-Y.

He married Sally Ann Hoskins. In 1969 they moved to Brownsburg, Indiana and established Harley's Steak House which quickly became 'the' place to eat for central Indiana residents. Thirty two years later (2001) Harley's and the land it sat on was sold to Walgreens. Harley retired and the Hassells moved to Florida. (They had been residents of Sebring, Florida since 1992.)

He was a member of the Country Club of Sebring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Volunteer Athletic Scholarship Fund (University of Tennessee) of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Survivors: his wife, Sally Ann Hoskins Hassell; daughters: Linda K Leeke of Zionsville, Indiana; Lisa Dawn George of Indianapolis, Indiana and Barbara Ann Ducas of Greenwood, Indiana; son, R Douglas Hassell of Lawrence, Indiana; brother, Thomas Hassell of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren.

Services were held June 10 at Matthews Mortuary in Brownsburg.

Cremation was accorded and interment at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana.

Harley died at age 66 years 9 months 11 days.

**************************************

Harley loved golf, the University of Tennessee Volunteers and a good practical joke. But most of all he loved his friends.

About 250 of his friends and family members gathered to pay tribute.

It wasn't a typical memorial ceremony. Hassell had requested that there be a party to remember him by so he could go out in style.

So, after a humorous eulogy at the mortuary they all paraded down to Celebrations on the far westside of Indianapolis to 'party hearty' while sharing stories about their friend.
