Dorothy Geraldine Jackson Purinton, 75, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2008, in Wichita Falls. She was born July 17, 1932, in Kingsport, Tenn., to Elbert and Bessie (Mullins) Jackson. Mrs. Purinton retired as a longtime caregiver to the aged. Known as Dot in her earlier years, she worked in several of the historic Pioneer Restaurants in Wichita Falls. She volunteered in many organizations over the years, such as the Air Force NCO's Wives Club and USO Club. She enjoyed traveling, bingo with friends and anything to do with her children or grandchildren. Mrs. Purinton may have been best known for her generosity to anyone in need.
Mrs. Purinton is survived by six children and their spouses, Michael and Susan Blevins of Granbury, Sharon and James Hastings of Yuma, Ariz., Cathy and Floyd Reasor of Holliday, Nancy Pirotte of Warsaw, Mo., Roxanna Blevins and Johnnie Joe Martin of Wichita Falls; one brother and sister, Bobby Jackson and Betty Smith of Kingsport, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her spouses, 4 brothers, 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Wichita Falls. Services will be directed by Hampton Vaughn Funeral Home.
