He was born to Rev Thomas Craighead and Margaret Holmes or Wallace. He died in Sugar Creek, Mecklenburg Co, NC. Reverend Craighead was married to Jane Agnes Brown. Craighead County, Arkansas was named for Alexander Craighead's and Jane Agnes Brown's son, John B. Craighead.
