George Andrew Johnson was born September 11 1895 in Nobel, Illinois to Andrew Lloyd Johnson and his wife, Mintie Sara Ash Johnson. He was the eldest of 5 children: Agnes (Taylor), Gladys (Sharp), Thomas Russell, and Raymond Oscar Johnson.
His family moved from Illinios to Colorado where his father farmed in LaPorte. George worked as a farmhand as a youth on the Broiler ranch before entering the service during WWI.
He married Myrna Winifred in 1927 after meeting her on a climb of Longs Peak in 1923. He ran a real estate business in Fort Collins. He also owned and operated a gas/oil station near the old Steeles Market in downtown Fort Collins.
George and Myrna raised their daughter Darlene in the Fort Collins area.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. George suffered a heart attack while deer hunting. He was buried in Grandview Cemetery where Myrna was later buried with him.
