"Dr. William Palm died at 8 30 a.m to-day at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. B.F. Kupp, 435 Bingaman Street.
Deceased was the oldest son of the late Dr. William Palm of Sinking Spring. He was born in that village on January 3, 1815. His early education was such as the schools in those days afforded. He studied medicine under the tuition of his father and grand-father, Dr. Peter Palm. He attended a course of lectures at the Pennsylvania University and graduated in 1836. His wife who died 9 years ago, was Catharine Sharman. Dr. Palm commenced the practice of medicine in Spring township and moved to Reading 1850 and has practiced here ever since. He was one of the old school physicians relying principally upon the herb and vegetable kingdom. Many of his medicines were prepared by himself and were always in demand. His recipes were those of his grandfather, who had in the early days of this county an extensive laboratory at Sinking Spring. The Palms were a family of physicians as far back as they can trace their history. His brother, Dr. Henry Palm resides at Morton, Delaware county, and sisters, Mrs. John Y. Rhoads, near Beyertown, and Mrs. Michael Miller, at Myerstown. Charles H. Palm, who died in March last was also a brother of deceased. His Children are: John Palm, foreman of R&CRR., residing at Columbia: Franklin Palm, at Middletown; Cyrus, George, William, and Irwin Palm, of this city, and Mrs. Jeannetta wife of B. Frank Kuan."
