James "Jim" Fritzell was a noted film and TV screewriter, who with Everett Greenbaum, co-wrote, with Everett Greenbaum, 29 episodes of ''The Andy Griffith Show'' and one episode of ''Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.''. He also wrote episodes of the TV series "Mister Peepers" (receiving one Emmy nomination),

"Make Room for Daddy", "The Real McCoys", "The New Andy Griffith Show", "The Odd Couple", "Love American Style","Sanford and Son", "The Doris Day Show" and "M*A*S*H". He also wrote the screenplays for the Jack Lemmon film "Good Neighbor Sam", the Don Knotts films "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken", "The Reluctant Astronaut]]'' and "The Shakiest Gun in the West", and the Andy Griffith film "Angel in My Pocket". In a 22-year partnership, Greenbaum and Fritzell also won three Writers' Guild awards and four Emmy nominations, and collaborated on more than 150 scripts. These included the Walter Brennan sitcom "The Real McCoys" (1957-62), "The Andy Griffith Show" (1960-68) and "M*A*S*H", on which they worked for five years,

contributing 35 episodes.
