Obituary of Cecil L Gibson 25 Jan 1973
Cecil L. Gibson, 62, of Karns City, died suddenly this morning, shortly after reporting for work at Witco Chemical Company.
Mr Gibson was the retiring president of the Butler County Boroughs Association, which is holding its installation dinner tonight at Saxonburg.
He was president of the Karns City Borough Council, and had served one term as president of the Boroughs Association. He was president of the Civil Defense group, and president of the Petroleum Valley Little League.
He was an active trainer with the Little League Football Association in the Karns City-Petrolia area.
Mr Gibson was a member of the Karns City United Methodist Church.
He was a 39-year employee of Witco Chemical, where he worked in the Neutralizer Department.
Born in Parker Township, June 8, 1910, he was the son of Roy and Grace Emery Gibson.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Wagner Gibson, whom he married in Karns City, Jan 18, 1936; two sons, Dale H. of Charleston, SC., and Michael Dale at home; three daughters, Mrs Wallace (Peggy Ann) Hillard of Butler, Mrs Randy (Carolyn June) McElravy of Karns City, and Dawn at home; his parents of Palmetto, Fla.; 7 grandchildren; three brothers, Willis of Grove City, Kenneth of Gary, Ind, and Glenn of Butler; and two sisters, Mrs Beatrice Grazier of Butler, and Mrs Olive Callen of Greenville, S.C.
A sister and two daughters preceded him in death.
GIBSON - Friends of Cecil L. Gibson who died Thursday, Jan 25, 1973, will be received at the Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home, Petrolia, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Friday and Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday from the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Rainy, pastor of Karns City United Methodist Church; the Rev. Glenn Kohlhepp, former pastor; and the Rev. Hulbert Bowser, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy, Karns City, officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Chicora RD.
