Indian Wars Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a First Sergeant in Company G, 1st United States Cavalry. At the Chiricahua Mountains, Arizona Territory, October 20, 1869, First Sergeant Oliver with a group of troopers engaged a band of Apache Indians in what was known as "The Campaign of the Rocky Mesa". For bravery in action, he was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 14, 1870. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
