The son of ROBERT & RUTH (GARLAND) STANLEY, he was baptized on April 12, 1601 in Tenterden, Tenterden Parish, co. Kent, England.
An original proprietor of Hartford, his name is on the Founders Monument. He probably came to America with his brothers, John & Timothy, he was a freeman in Mass. on March 4, 1634-5 and settled in Lynn, MA. He was a deputy & constable there, but soon removed to Hartford. His homelot in 1639 was on Main Street just north of the Little River extending to Center Church. He was also a constable in Hartford. In 1659, he removed to Hadley, Mass. and was a townsman there.
He married Benet Shepard, daughter of John and Rebecca (Waller) Shepard.

According to treerpgmo, he married Bennet Tritton on Aug. 3, 1630 in Ashford, co. Kent, England. Also see this link on his marriage.
This is probably a cenotaph and his is actually buried in Hadley. See Memorial in Hadley
