Obit from The Odessan:
James W. Hannah - James W. Hannah was born in Jefferson County, West Virginia about eighty two years ago and was reared and educated there. He came to Saline County, MO in 1856 but after a few years came to Lafayette County and except for a very little while has spent the rest of his life near Odessa.
He was married to Miss Julia M. Garnhart in 1858 - June 3 - and to them were born twelve children, seven of whom, with the mother survive him. Ten grandchildren also mourn his going.
Mr. Hannah enlisted in the southern army in 1861 and was in the battles of Coon's Creek, and all the battles of Price's retreat from the state.
He was a splendid citizen, a man of fine judgment, and excellent neighbor and a kind and loving husband and father. He made a success of farming and reared a family of whom he could well be proud.
In his early manhood he joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and for many years was a ruling elder.
He reached the end of a long useful life, Friday night, and the funeral service was held Monday by Rev. L. F. Clemena of Marshall. His community will miss him as well as his family. The surviving children are James P., William W. Jos. S., Hattie M., Henry K., H. D., and Mary E. all of this community, except H. D. who is in Texas. We offer our sympathy to the sorrowing ones.
