CHATSWORTH, GA — Former Columbus, Georgia resident and businessman, Gene Keeble, age 59 of Chatsworth, Georgia died tragically in an automobile accident on August 11, 2010 in Pickens County, Georgia. Gene was the first baby boy born at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia on September 28, 1950 to Mrs. Jeanette Golden Keeble and the late Robert Frank Keeble. He was a graduate of Jordan High School where he was an outstanding football player. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps where he trained as a Sharp Shooter with Platoon 3028. Upon being honorably discharged, Gene relocated to Miami Beach, Florida where he began his long and much loved automobile sales career as the manager of the largest south beach automobile dealership, Tally Embry Ford. His love for his family and hometown brought him back to Columbus where he became an award-winning salesman for Bill Heard Chevrolet, Inc., Jay Auto Group, Inc., and Rivertown Ford, Inc. This success led him to launch his own car dealership and he became owner and operator of Genes House of Cars, Inc. Upon his early retirement he relocated to the North Georgia Mountains in Chatsworth where he spent most of his time fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Gene gave his life to God and loved his church family at Cornerstone Church in Jasper, Georgia where he was a member. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and free spirited personality. Always willing to help, he loved everyone and never said no.
