|Birth: ||unknown, Switzerland|
Son of Johannes (ca. 1678 in Canton Bern, Switzerland - by 1723) and Anna Danner.
Married "Maudlin" or Magdalena.
Perhaps born in 1690-1700; emigrated with brother Jacob from Germany about 1710 and their widowed mother; were in Conestoga Twp., Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1723; naturalized 1724; purchased on Dec. 24, 1731, from George Kindig 200 acres adjoining Jacob Doner, Felix Landes, and others in Lampeter Twp., Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
This monument was erected in 1915 by the descendants of Michael Dohner. However, there is no evidence Michael ever lived in Lebanon County. His Lancaster County will states that he lived in Lampeter Township and adds "Item - It is my will and I give to my son Abraham the land or plantation whereon I now live to him his heirs and assigns."
DONER, MICHAEL Lampeter Twp.
May 29, 1759 (date written) --- 1762 (date proved)
Wife: Magdalena Doner.
Children mentioned: Abraham and John.
Ex.: Benjamin Landis and Jacob Hartman.
Michael received a patent from the Penns for 260 acres in Lebanon Township on June 24, 1749, which he sold to his son John (1726-1803) on November 15, 1751 (Patent Book A, vol 15, page 171, Lancaster County deed Book D page 527). It is likely John was buried here on his farm.
MICHAEL IS ENTERED IN THIS SMALL CEMETERY BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THE MONUMENT STANDS, BUT IT IS MORE LIKELY HE WAS BURIED IN THE MELLINGER MENNONITE CEMETERY AT LANCASTER WHICH WAS NEAR HIS HOME. HOWEVER, NO MARKER EXISTS FOR HIM THERE.
