David Warfield was the son of John Marion Warfield (1896-1960) and Corinne Slade (1895-1967) who married Linnie Farrell Holly, daughter of Guy Ivy Holly (1912-2005) and Molly Bernice Hamrick (1915-1974). Almost six months before his death, the couple lost their first child, David Rush Warfield (b. 30 Mar 1951 d. 2 Apr 1951). Surviving his death are his wife, parents and two brothers.
First Lieutenant, David Warfield, U.S. Air Force, was killed while missing in action during the Korean Conflict on October 29 1951. First Lieutenant Warfield was the pilot of a F-80C Shooting Star fighter interceptor with the 35th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter Bomber Group. On October 29, 1951, while on a combat mission, his aircraft developed engine trouble. He was unsuccessful at bailing out over water. First Lieutenant Warfield was awarded the Air Medal, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
The Honolulu Memorial at the National Memorial Cemetery was erected to honor the military personnel who are missing in action or were lost or buried at sea in the Pacific. David Warfield' name appears on the wall.
