Dr. Bill C. Bryan
After a four month battle with cancer, Dr. Bill C. Bryan, retired pastor, 72, of Alpharetta, Georgia, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2011, in Cumming, Georgia. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. Burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the Roswell Funeral Home in Roswell, Georgia.
For 49 years of ministry Dr. Bill C. Bryan was the consummate leader, mentor, coach, minister, father, grandfather and friend. Bill touched so many lives not only here in the United States but all around the world. He had the gift of discernment, which helped many as he coached and mentored them for further service in God's Kingdom.
The churches Bill served were truly blessed to have him. He developed Sunday School programs that were used in thousands of churches in the United States and Canada. Bill served in several churches throughout his ministry. These included, First Baptist Aledo, Aledo, TX, East Hill Baptist Church, Pensacola, FL, First Southern Baptist Church, Del City, OK, and churches in Georgia including Roswell Street Baptist Church, Marietta, Peachtree Corners Baptist Church in Norcross, Eagle's Landing Baptist Church, McDonough, First Baptist Church, Atlanta, and Mount Harmony Baptist Church, Mableton.
Bill impacted and influenced so many lives throughout his years of ministry. He spent the last 12 years before retiring as a mentor in the lives of 22 young men and their families through the Ministers in Residence program at First Baptist Church, Atlanta. It was known among those he mentored in SBC circles that a reference from Dr. Bill Bryan was a very valued recommendation.
Bill was born in Greenwood, Arkansas, to Milo and Pauline Bryan now deceased. After graduating from Greenwood High School, he attended and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. To fulfill his call to ministry he then attended Southwestern Seminary and received three degrees to better equip him for service. Bill received his doctorate from Luther Rice Seminary and continued his education through the years from Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, California. Early in his life he also served in the Air National Guard.
He married Chris Price of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, (now deceased). He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Hollis, and son-in-law, Trey Hollis; three grandchildren, Kennedy Chambers, Parker Chambers, and Price Hollis all of Cumming, Georgia.
As much as he was involved in ministry, the real joy of his life was his daughter and grandchildren. He lived with a priority of making family first in everything. As the consummate father and grandfather, he involved himself in every detail of their lives.
