Elizabeth Hunter Thames ended her journey on earth on April 3, 2011, to enter her eternal home in Heaven. She was welcomed there by her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, as well as Jerry, her husband of 63 years, her parents, ken and Jimmie Lou Hunter, her twin brothers, James and George, and many friends and relatives. Elizabeth was born April 25, 1918 in Powder Springs GA. She was a lifelong resident of Atlanta. Her two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy & Haven Kicklighter and Sheri & RB Killam as well as her five grandchildren & their spouses, Trey & Susan Kicklighter, Ty & Emily Kicklighter, Taz & Christi Kicklighter, Paige & Mark Bolvin and Amanda & Daniel Cliburn, along with 14 great-grandchildren will miss her, but look forward to one day being reunited with her for eternity. Elizabeth spent her life serving her family, her churches, Capitol View Baptist and Roswell Street Baptist and the schools where her daughters were enrolled. When her daughters were older, she worked for Alterman Big Apple in the frozen food institutional division. She later retired from there to devote herself to being MeMommy to her five grandchildren. MeMommy and GiGi will be terribly missed by their devoted family. Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Chapel in Marietta with Rev. Ron Cochran & Mr. Alex Owen officiating. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta GA. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, GA Chapter, 1925 Century Blvd, Suite 10, Atlanta GA 30345. Family will receive friends 12-2 pm prior to the service at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Marietta.
