Mr. Harvey Paschal, 80, of Marietta, formerly of Rockmart, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008. Mr. Paschal was born on Aug. 31, 1928, in Dallas, son of the late Emmett and Pauline Paschal, of Rockmart. Upon graduating from Rockmart High School, he went to the University of Alabama with a football scholarship. He was co-founder of Cobb Street Ministries in Cobb County and was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir, in the past. Mr. Paschal retired from the Georgia Power Company, after 37 ½ years of loyal service. He served for 12 years as a Cobb County Commissioner, was the Police and Fire Commissioner for Cobb County along with State Chairman of the Pardons and Parole Board. He was also the State Chairman of the Georgia Jaycees and National Director of the Jaycees. Survivors include his wife, Carol; three children, Angela Paschal Barner and husband Jim, Michelle Paschal Kellett and husband Kevin, Harvey Lee Paschal and wife Debbie; three sisters, Virginia Paschal Kuehner, Catherine Paschal Otts, and Emmalene Paschal Puryear; and two brothers, William Paschal and Jerry Paschal. Four grandsons, nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m., at Roswell Street Baptist Church, Marietta, with Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating.

Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta was in charge of the arrangements. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home made this local announcement.
