Ralph Hardin Stinson, 84, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, October 11, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Striffler Ð Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Pastor Marty O. Wynn officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 15, 2007 in Parkhill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Stinson, Eric Stinson, Andrew Stinson, Jason Mitchell, Steve Stinson, Scott Stinson and Denny Neville. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Stinson was born April 6, 1923 in Jingo, TN the son of the late John A. and Bonnie Herbinson Stinson. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Stinson retired from United Cities Gas Company as a service superintendent. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and Mt. Herman Masonic Lodge # 304. He was preceded in death by his wife, Allene Smith Stinson. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Barbara Stinson of Jackson, TN, Richard and Cathy Stinson of Columbus; four grandchildren, Todd Stinson, Jennifer Stinson Mitchell, Eric Stinson and Andrew Stinson; one great-grandson, Blake Stinson; two sisters, Gladys Butler and Johnnie Hutto both of Columbus; three sisters-in-law, Betty Sue Stinson, Lois Robinson and Betty Gainey; several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 3641 Norris Road, Columbus, GA 31907.
