James Hilton Mayhand, 76, of Phenix City, died Thursday, Jan. 22 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. EST Saturday at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, with interment at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus. Pallbearers will be The Phenix City Shriners.
Visitation will be at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City.
Mr. Mayhand was the son of the late Jim Mayhand and Ruby Lee Hawkins Mayhand. He is married to Margaret Jeanett Gunter Mayhand. He was a member of Second Avenue Baptist Church in Columbus and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was also a member of the Rosehill Masonic Lodge for 50 years and The Phenix City Shrine Club, where he served as a road runner taking children to the Shrine Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Jeanett Gunter Mayhand; a son, Rex Michael Mayhand and wife, Emmie of Cataula, Ga.; two grandsons, Chris Mayhand and wife, Candace and Jeff Mayhand and wife, Joey, all of Cataula; and a great grandson, Cody.
