RINCON - Ford Richard Howell, 60, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, in Savannah. Services will be held at 1P.M. on Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the Chapel of Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley with Bishop Harold B. Harrison and Edward Peacock officiating. Burial will follow in Society Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. After the service, the family will meet at the home of Gail Sorrows, 200 Sheffield Way in Warner Robins. Family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley. -Born in Thomaston to the late Ford Allison Howell and Sara Emma Blissitt Howell, Richard was raised locally in middle Georgia and was an avid bass fisherman. He served in the Marines, had two tours of duty in Vietnam, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. -Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Julie D. Howell of Rincon; their children, Christy Ann Knorr of Nebraska, Ford B. Howell of Rincon, and Heather Lindsey Howell of Savannah; grandchildren, Sierra, Ian, Allyssa, Hailey and Dylan; sister, Gail Howell Sorrows of Warner Robins; brother, Jimmy B. Howell of Springfield; and mother-in-law, Wera Lamar of Waynesville, NC. -Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
