FELIX JEFFERSON HARRIS
Felix Jefferson Harris was born in Mer Rouge, Louisiana on May 20, 1936, to the late Ivey James Harris and Cordelia Dunklin Harris.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Eudora Missionary Baptist Church with the late Rev. W. S. Robinson as pastor. He lived a fulfilled and joyous life until Christ called him home to rest on Saturday, December 12, 2009.
Felix acquired his early education in the Morehouse Parish School System and went on to pursue a higher education at Grambling State University. He was drafted to serve in the United States Army for two years. After completing his military duties, he continued his education at Grambling State University with a degree in Speech and Drama and a minor in English. Felix was a Speech and Drama and English Teacher in Union Parish for approximately 30 years. He was affiliated with Louisiana Association of Education,Union Parish Association of Education, Grambling State University Alumni and Matador Social Club. Other career endeavors were a licensed car entrepreneur, a clothing salesman, and a real estate owner.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife, Ruby Metoyer Harris, one daughter, Felice Harris Drain and husband Kevin, of Red Oak, Texas, three grandchildren, Mariah, Kevin Felix, and Morgan. Five sisters, Bettye Keeter, Hazel Drumgoole, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Helen Hill, of Mobile, Alabama, Sadie Rose and husband David of Bastrop, Louisiana, and Callie Wilson, of Mer Rouge, Louisiana, two sister-in-laws, Marie Meziere and husband Andrew of Shreveport, Louisiana and Lillie Harris, of Southfield, Michigan and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Zion Traveler Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Traveler Baptist Church, Monroe, LA. Committal: Richwood Memorial Gardens, Richwood, LA.
