"Mr. M. Lee George died at Mary Washington Hospital at an early hour Saturday morning, aged 73 years.
Mr. George served in the Confederate Navy and has an enviable record in the service. He has made this his home, but has been in the employ of the U.S. Government for many years.
Besides his wife he is survived by eight children--Mrs. Rosa L. Hunter, of Wisconsin; Mr. Preston L. George, Mrs. Carrie M. Sacrey, Mrs. Ida J. Stanley, Mr. Lee George, Mrs. Fannie Johnson, and Miss Genevieve George, of this city; and Mrs. Hettie E. Rodgers, of Richmond.
The funeral of Mr. M. Lee George took place from the Methodist church Sunday at 3 O'clock, services conducted by Rev. J.C. Hawk.
The pallbearers were Messrs. Jas. N. Turner, James P. Walker, H.R. Gouldman, James Anthony, Samuel Brown, J. Wesley Baker. Internment was made in the City cemetery."
