Thomas was the son of John Combs and Rebecca FitzRandolph, and the twin brother of Isaac Combs. He was probably born in Upper Freehold Twp., Monmouth Co., NJ, where his parents resided. He was named, undoubtedly, for his grandfather Thomas Combs.

He married Hannah Rogers. His twin brother Isaac married Hannah's sister Euphemea Rogers.

Thomas and Hannah belonged to the Chesterfield (Burlington Co., NJ) Monthly Meeting of Friends. They had 3 children, as follows:

1. Rachel, born 12 May 1781--linked below
2. John, born 20 Mar. 1786, died 10 Oct. 1790
3. Thomas Jr., born 4 July 1791--linked below

He died in East Windsor, old Middlesex (now Mercer) Co., NJ.

Note: Thomas and his wife might be buried in the East Branch Friends Burial Ground, Imlaystown, NJ, with other Combs relatives. They were members of Chesterfield Monthly Meeting (of which East Branch was a preparatory meeting). East Windsor Cemetery, where his sister Ursilla Combs Ely is buried, is another possibility.
