She taught school for 25 years in Swain and Macon Counties. She was a member of the Andrews First Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher in the Primary and Youth Departments.She was also preceded in death by four brothers, George Henry, Walter, Oscar, and Horace Taber; and two sisters, Emma Woodard and Ethel Ledford.
Surviving are two sons, Sydney J. Barker and wife, Annie Jean of Littleton, CO and John Kenneth Barker and wife, Janice of Copperhill, TN; five grandchildren, Mike Barker, Debbie Kosirog, Kent Barker, Kirk Barker, and Tammy Morgan; and 11 great grandchilldren and a great great grandchild.
Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
