Shirey, Robert, 83, of Homer, died Friday; services at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Weldon Baptist Church, Weldon; burial in Weldon Cemetery, near Summerfield; arrangements through Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Homer.

Funeral services will be held for Robert F. Shirey, 83, at the Weldon Baptist Church, 1610 Weldon Church Road, Bernice on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Harvey Hoffman, officiating. Interment will follow at the Weldon Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5th St., Homer, LA 71040.

Mr. Shirey was born Oct. 15, 1929 in the Weldon Community to Thomas Clifford Shirey and Myra Lee Shirey. He entered into rest on Friday, June 21st at Homer Memorial Hospital. Mr. Shirey was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired as a Foreman/Supervisor with Ludlow Corporation after 30 years of service.

Mr. Shirey was preceded in death by his parents.

Cherishing his memory are his wife, Yoko Kijima Shirey of Bernice; their children, Steve Shirey of Bernice, David and Donna Shirey of Choudrant, Patricia and D'Arcy Stevens of Bernice and George and Debbie Shirey of Bernice; 7 grandchildren, Richard Stevens, Amanda Shirey, Walt Stevens, Ty Shirey, Anna Stevens, Jordan Branch and Presley Shirey; 4 great-grandchildren, Ayrton, Laney, Liam and Ellie; his siblings, Howelene Skinner of Dubach, Norma Prince of Chatham, Lyda Amason of Fordyce, AR and Harry Shirey of Bernice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gary Shirey, Terry Shirey, Ricky Shirey, Tommy Amason, Robert Prince, Jeff Brown and James Laird.

Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Pelfrey, Johnny Phillips and Gerry Cup.
