Lieutenant Colonel John F. Tisby was born August 5, 1966 and reared in Shreveport, Louisiana. He passed away July 29, 2014 in Seattle, Washington, where he had resided for twenty-seven years. After graduating from Reid Ross High School in Fayetteville, N.C., he attended Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina, graduating as a Distinguished Military Graduate in ROTC and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant in 1988. He was a member of the Omega Psi Fraternity, Inc. LTC Tisby also earned a Master's degree in Human Relations from Oklahoma University. His military education includes the AMEDD Officer's Basic and Advanced Courses, the Patient Administration Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Command and General Staff Officer's Course, and the Joint Forces Staff College Homeland Security and Plans Course. LTC Tisby has served over 27 years in all three components of the U.S. Army as an Active Duty Soldier, National Guardsman and Reservist. He most recently served as the Western Regional Medical Command Patient Administration Consultant, and as the Warrior Transition Office Patient Administration Officer for the Soldier Transfer and Regulating Tracking Center.

John leaves to cherish his memories: a loving mother, Louise Walker Tisby; a father Charles H. Tisby, both of Shreveport, LA; one son Quinn Birch (son of Yvette Birch); spouse, Stephanie Graham Tisby; one daughter Alexis Tisby, all of Seattle, WA; one brother, Patrick Tisby (Teressa Linn); one sister, Valerie Tisby Taylor (Dameon); a special niece and nephew, Qui'Shayria and Messiah Tisby, all of Shreveport, LA; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends around the world.

A Celebration of Life service in honor of LTC John F. Tisby will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 - 11:00am at Washington's & Smith's Paradise Funeral Home, 1923 North Market Street in Shreveport, LA. Pastor Jack Lewis, Jr. of Temple of Christ Baptist Church, will be officiating. Processional and Burial will be at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery, 601 Hwy. 80 East, Haughton, La. 71037. Services will be under the direction of Washington's & Smith's Paradise Funeral Home.
