Dorothy B Brinsa passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Logan Regional Hospital after a short illness. She was born May 29, 1929 at Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the first child of Samuel LaMont Smith and Charlotte B Nielson. She was raised in Salt Lake City, graduated from East High School, attended the University of Utah and graduated from Stevens-Henager College of Business. Following graduation, she worked for Equitable Life & Casualty all her life, first in Salt Lake City and later in Denver, Colorado.
She enjoyed cooking and loved to collect unique sets of dishes and serving pieces. She liked to prepare and serve small dinner parties. She also inherited her mother's eye for fashion and color and enjoyed sewing and creating clothes.
She married Ralph C. Ensign, on June 27, 1959 in Salt Lake City. They were later divorced. She transferred to the Denver area and became avid Denver Bronco Fan. She married Edward H Brinsa on March 28, 1967. They were later divorced. Following her retirement from Equitable, she moved back to Salt Lake City and eventually lived with her mother, providing care and assistance until she passed away. Dorothy adopted all of her extended family including nieces, nephew, and grandchildren. She was famous for remembering all of the family's important dates by sending out cards of acknowledgement, celebrating birthdays, graduation dates, marriages, and anniversaries.
Later in her life she became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had the opportunity of receiving her temple endowments and being sealed to her parents, who had passed away.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents and one brother, Lynn LaMont Smith. Surviving her are one sister, Gladys Gingrich (Harold), Woodland Hills, CA and one brother, Wallace Smith (Linda), Providence, UT.
