Donna C. Barrett, 87, a resident of East Wenatchee, Washington, died Thursday evening, February 15, 2007, in Central Washington Hospital.
She was born Donna C. George on June 7, 1919, to Hubert and Merle (DeBord) George in Monroe, Washington, where she grew up and received her early education. In 1935 she married Charles "Chuck" Matheson in Monroe and they made their home in the Lake Stevens/Everett area. Donna worked as a fork lift operator on the piers in Everett during World War II.
On April 1, 1950 she married Delmar G. Barrett in Everett, and while her husband served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War she worked at the Port of Everett as a fork lift operator. Following Delmar's honorable discharge they moved to Lake Stevens, Washington to make their home. They later moved to Morristown, Tennessee, where they owned and operated Barrett's Glass until 1955 when they moved to East Wenatchee. Donna was employed by Cedargreen Packing and Highline Packing. In 1973 they moved to Omak, Washington, where they purchased the Omak Paint and Glass, which they operated until their retirement in 1985. They then moved to Conconully, Washington and in 2000 they returned to East Wenatchee. In 2004 they moved to Cashmere, Washington.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Riverside Chapel in Omak.
Donna is survived by her husband, Delmar Barrett of the family home; son and daughter in law, Jim and Sandy Matheson of Marysville, Washington; daughters and sons-in-law, Merle and Ben Carpenter of Bean Station, Tennessee, Penny and John Brockwell of Malaga, June and Bob Goehner, Phyllis and Don Copeland all of East Wenatchee, and Nancy Worley of Wenatchee; 18 grandchildren, and 24 great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
A Funeral Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Donna C. Barrett will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday morning, February 20, 2007, in the Mausoleum Chapel on the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in East Wenatchee, with Pastor Alex Pfitzer, officiating.
Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
