Carrie and Broaddus were apparently divorced in the 1880's. Broaddus, as seen above, remarried and had more children. Carrie Belle (Wiley) Bates was married 2nd to Joseph Reed on January 4, 1891 in Helena, Lewis and Clarke County, Montana. Joseph Reed was 33 at this time and was the son of Lawrence Reed and Mary Oshaugnuson, while Carrie B Bates was 28 at this time and was the daughter of Charles Wiley and Caroline Debord.
At the time of the 1900 census, Carrie is found married, but, living alone in Helena Township, Helena city Ward 4, Lewis and Clark County, Montana. She is listed as having been married 8 years, but Joseph is not here and she is listed as having only had one child, who is living. She is listed as having been born in January of 1863. Her father and mother are listed as having been born in Germany and Kentucky, respectively.
Carrie Belle (Wiley) Bates died on March 25, 1947 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.
