Herbert Wayne Rogers Herbert Wayne Rogers, 77, passed away on Sept. 6, 2013, in Lubbock. Wayne was born on June 13, 1936, to Willie Marie and Hobert Rogers. He married Jerry Lee Wheat on March 6, 1964. He was a motorcyclist and competed in many races, including Daytona Beach. His joy came from working on his Harley Davidson and racing Indian motorcycles in his youth. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He was employed at Plains Meat Company in 1962 and worked there until retirement in 2010. Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Jerry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Willie. Those left to mourn his passing are his siblings, Doc, Alvis (Mary Lou), Albert (Irene), Willadene, and Pat; a daughter, Karen Rogers (James Burton) and son Timothy; and his favorite four grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashton, Andrew and Allison; and more nieces and nephews than are able to be counted. Wayne had many friends and acquaintances in Lubbock. Celebration of life services will be held Monday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. at Bacon Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Joplin officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Bacon Heights Baptist Church or Special Olympics of Texas
