My Grandpa, My Dad(raised me), My Friend~
Brother Of Mabel Ilene Pears~George Benjamin Smith~Martin Francis Smith~Gyle Henry Smith~
Uncle Of William Jennings~
Son Of Martin & Mary (Wisehart) Smith~
Married Barbara (Hoover) Smith on June 17, 1946~
They had 4 children~Linda, Sandra, Diana & J.R.~
He was a Wonderful, Loving & Devoted Husband, Father, Grandpa & Friend. He was a Marine in World War II & Member of Masonic Lodge 76 in Independence, Mo. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, Mo. in 1985.
After raising their own children, they took in their 4 grand children to love & raise. They were not hero's for a moment, but four lifetimes over! After their retirement in 1985, Irvin & Barbara moved to Warsaw, Mo where they had a home built in Bent Tree Harbor. They loved sitting outdoors for many hours together & watching any animals that might roam by. They also loved & cherished all the visits from their children.
He enjoyed Country & Western Music & his favorite was "Gentleman Jim Reeves". Barbara passed away from breast cancer in 1992 & He spent the last 10 years after her passing dearly loving & missing her. She was his ROCK! He would say she was just keeping house until the day he could come home.
I love & miss you both every single day of my life! I hope you know how much we love you, how much we appreciated all the hard work you put in for us! I know you did not have to, but you did it anyway! GOD BLESS YOU BOTH. YOU ARE NOW "Together Forever" IN GOD AND EACH OTHERS ARMS! YOU WILL FOREVER BE LOVED, MISSED & REMEMBERED!
"IN YOUR MEMORY"
We miss you & love you more than words can say~Although we know you watch over us day after day~
How could we have known that it would be this way, that very sad day that you went away~
We know there's a God who understands how much it hurts~He sent his only son down upon this great big earth~Jesus knew our hearts do suffer, when a loved one goes away~So he promised life eternal for those who love & pray~He told us to keep our eyes on him & he will show the way~
So we know the day will come, when we see your loving face~Could be any moment, might be a little while~We know one thing is for sure, we pray to see your smile~
He knows how much you meant to us~What a beautiful part of life you were~Heaven has you now~Your heaven's precious pearl~
You are not just a memory on earth, your memory is so much more~You never stopped being our dad for a moment, cause God called you ashore~
He knew we would always keep loving you daddy, so in heaven he made this door~It's a door we peek through often~To see your loving face~If only for a moment, feel your loving arms embrace~
Where we can come say "I still love you dad", though in this special place~Until we meet again, God knew it had to be~This special place we get to meet, IN YOUR MEMORY~
Love, All Your Family~
