William Young McBride served in the 6th Alabama Cavalry Company "D" during the Civil War. He married July 29, 1852 to Jane Ann Chambless (born 1933 in Alabama). They had four children, William F. (b. 1853), M.J. (b. 1855), Andrew J. (b. 1858), and Mary Ann Sarah Jane Levina Ellen, called "Molly"(b. 1869). Jane Ann died when their youngest child was two years old.
According to family written and oral records, William later married a widow Evans, gaining a step-son Bruce Evans. William and his second wife had a daughter, name unknown.
Circa 1885 William married a third time. The woman is presumed to have been American Indian because Great-grandmother Molly was known to have a step-brother and step-sister, Tom and Emma Nichols who were full-blood native American (family records note attending Tom's funeral in 1953 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma).
