|Birth: ||1791, England|

Because she died in a remote location and was a widow with no family accompaning her, we do not know her maiden name nor her husband's given name.
She was born in England and emigrated aboard the sailing ship, the "Echo". She travelled with other Mormon Saints, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She became ill along the trail and died shortly after the Edmund Ellsworth Handcart Company neared the head of the Sweetwater, at Pacific Springs.
The official journal of the camp recorded her death and burial, "not far from the head of the Sweetwater ......Camped at nine p.m. at the Pacific Springs...met with the main body of Captain Bank's Company. Mary Mayo [widow] died of Diarrhea. Age 65. Buried close to the big mountain, left hand side of the road."
