Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2003, from Noon to 8 p.m., at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy, Shafter, CA.Maggie Mettler Alexander was born in Menno, South Dakota, on November 20, 1906, to August Mettler and Katharine Stoller Mettler. In 1924, Maggie married John Alexander; they moved to Shafter, California in 1933. She lived in Shafter for many years where she worked as a cook at various locations, including the old Shafter Motel, and was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, making a variety of crafts, and raising Pomeranians.Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Victor Alexander; daughter, Ruth Dennis; daughter, Thelma Sprankle; and a grandson, Bobby Dennis. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Juanita Alexander; and five grandchildren, John Alexander, Cheryl Alexander, Glenda Byrom, Tom Sprankle and Valerie Sprankle Simms.
