MOLINE — William D. "Bill" Brown Jr., 77, of Moline, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at home of an apparent heart attack.

Services will be noon Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the service begins. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Bill was born Jan. 14, 1936, in Huntsville, Ala., to William and Grace Brown. He moved to the Quad-Cities with his family in 1950 and remained a lifelong resident. He married Sandra M. (Sandy) Richlen on Nov. 9, 1963, and together they raised three beautiful daughters who were the light of his life.

Bill retired from John Deere Harvester Works after more than 30 years with the company. He became a leader in the local union and was very proud of his accomplishments in representing his fellow members. Upon his retirement, he and Sandy traveled across the U.S. in their motor home, eventually establishing a winter home in Winter Haven, Fla. He loved his family and especially cherished those occasions that provided an opportunity to get all the brothers, sisters, grandkids, nieces and nephews together for Frank's Pizza. He enjoyed fishing, travel and equestrian sports and enthusiastically supported his beloved Chicago Bears.

Survivors include daughters, Kimberly (Tim) Herold, Andover, Lisa (Billy) Dowdy, Rock Island, and Shelley (Chad) Mottet, East Moline; brothers, Milt Brown, Moline, Blake Brown, Rock Island, and Edgar Brown, Woodhull; sisters, Millie Sturm, Davenport, and Linda Adlfinger; grandchildren, Daniel (Christin) Dowdy, Kendra (Steve) Taets, Lara Newman, Kaylee Herold, Luke Newman, Kelsey Herold, Derek Mottet, Nicholas Mottet and Joshua Mottet; and great-grandchildren, Dawsen Taets and Gavin Taets.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandy; his parents; and his sister, Margaret Hornbuckle.
