Harland George Ogilvie, 41, of Augusta, formerly Jefferson, died unexpectedly August 14, 2009 at his residence in Augusta.

Harland was born on May 10, 1968 the son of George E. Ogilvie and Antoinette M. (Morin) Ogilvie. He was a graduate of Lincoln Academy, Class of 1986.

He joined the U.S. Army after graduation, and served in Korea during his first tour of duty. He re-enlisted, serving in the Persian Gulf War from 1990-1991.

After his discharge from the Army, he began working as a carpenter in the Boothbay and Jefferson area.

Harland was a military history enthusiast, and liked to spend his leisure time fishing.

Harland is survived by his father, George Ogilvie, his mother Antoinette Ogilvie, both of Jefferson; his son, Harland Ogilvie Jr., of Jefferson; a sister, Marie Clark, of Westbrook, a brother, Russell Ogilvie, of Scarborough; and a niece and nephew.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, August 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street in Waldoboro. A celebration of Harland's life will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 11 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Robert Dorr officiating.

Donations in Harland's memory may be made to the Jefferson Veteran's Memorial Fund, c/o the Jefferson Historical Society, Jefferson, Maine 04348.
