Death: Jun. 24, 1976

Frank E. Arnold, usually called Ed by his wife, grew up and worked on the family farm in East Greenwich, Rhode Island until he was drafted during World War I. He served with the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during the war, being a member of Company F, 314th Infantry. After the war he returned home and became an interior decorator.

Frank E. was married on 26 February 1921 to Elinor Pearl Watson, and the following July he and Elinor bought the house at 85 Anthony Avenue in Providence, RI, and occupied it in November. Their only son was born there the following January. From 1923 to 1925 Frank worked for Knight's Express, and then for another company until 1928. Thereafter he worked for himself until retirement. In 1929 their son Stanley had to have his tonsils removed, and the following year they bought [two?] lots in Oaklawn for $1500. Elinor's father died in 1931, and shortly thereafter Frank and Elinor bought a house on Stanwood Street for Elinor's mother. Some bonus payment to veterans [?] in the amount of $450 came about this time, and the money was used to pay down on this house. Frank and Elinor bought their first car, a Chrysler, in 1931.

In May 1935 they moved to Oaklawn, RI, into the house at 85 Turner Avenue. In January 1936 Elinor had an [unspecified] operation, and in June of that year their son graduated from Oaklawn Grammar School. In 1939 Ed and Elinor bought the house at 238 Wilbur Ave., and occupied it in November. Shortly thereafter they sold the house on Anthony Avenue, but later bought the house next door to their home, at 258 Wilbur Avenue, renting it out as apartments, and renting the house at 85 Turner Avenue as well. In addition, they rented the second floor of their home at 238 Wilbur Ave. A family that stayed there for several years was the young pastor, Arnold Jacobson, and his wife Theo. They had a son, Carrie, born while living in the house. Frank died in 1976 at the age of 88, and Elinor continued to live in the house for a few more years.

Frank and Elinor are buried in the Arnold family plot in Quidnesset Cemetery, N. Kingstown, where Frank's parents and all of his siblings and their spouses are also buried.
